PHLEBOTOMY REFRESHER COURSE
RETURN TO PHLEBOTOMY AND GET CURRENT BLOOD DRAWS
The Phlebotomy Refresher Course is designed for the phlebotomist that have an
active CPT license but have been out of the medical workforce and would like to review phlebotomy basics and skills. This course will refresh on the basic knowledge, skills and experience live practice. Licensed Phlebotomists will lead the lab sessions and will verify your skills and provided constructive feedback. All attendees must know the basics below before attending lab session:
1) Areas of blood withdrawal
2) Infection Control and safety measures
3) Anatomy
4) Equipment and methods for performing blood withdrawals
5) Order of draw
Intended Audience:
Licensed Phlebotomists with a CPTI or CPTII
. A copy of license must be brought to lab session and emailed to
[email protected]
. Attendee must have an active malpractice/liability insurance policy from NSO (cost estimate $98-$105 for a 12-month policy). Attendees will sign a release they are covered under their own Health Insurance policy.
Lab Sessions Available:
The following lab sessions are offered at our Turlock campus:
First session: Students must successfully pass the first session in order to be granted approval to start live sticks. The first session is a basic session, this includes: 1) Safety procedures, 2) Equipment review, 3) venipuncture practice on manikins, 4) order of draw review
Second session: Review and 2 - live sticks on humans.
Live Venipuncture Log:
Attendees will be given access to a venipuncture log verifying they are staying active with their skills.
Attendance:
Students must arrive on time, as we have multiple time slots and need to start labs on time. The practice lab classroom will be closed during each lab session, late arrivals will not be accepted. Late arrivals or no-shows will not be refunded and the amount will not be transferrable. Student must email

within 24-hours if they are not available to attend session.
Dress Code:
Students must arrive in scrubs. The only school scrub authorize is First Lady Permanente, all other scrubs must have no logos.
Contact Education Hours:
All students after completing a lab session are given (1) contact hour of credit. Eligible providers may earn (1) contact hours for continuing education.
Student Discount:
Students that have taken a Phlebotomy Program at First Lady Permanente will be authorized to receive a discount price of $15.00 off
per practice lab session
. After you submit your order, discount will be applied to your card within 48-hours.
