UPDATED 2020 CPR & ECC GUIDELINES BLS FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS CPR AED CLASS
The Basic Life Support (BLS) course is updated with the 2020 CPR & ECC Guidelines by the American Heart Association. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
Intended Audience: The AHA's BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
Course Topics: The course will cover the following topics in the revised 2020 CPR & ECC Guidelines.
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Important early use of an AED
- Effective ventilations using a barrier device
- Importance of teams in multi rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi rescuer CPR
- Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults.
Course Completion Certificate: Upon successfully completing the AHA BLS 2020 Course, students will receive an e-card via email by heart.org within 48-hours from course completion.
Book Requirement: The course requires that each participant must bring the AHA BLS Book to class. The ECC2015 version AHA BLS book will be valid until 1/31/2021. From 2/1/2021 and on the newest version ECC2020 AHA BLS book will be the required version.
Attendance: Students must arrive on time, no later than (10) minutes. Late arrivals or no-shows will be charged a reschedule fee of $25.00 to transfer to the next available course. Students travel from Turlock, Ceres, Modesto, Riverbank, Oakdale, Hilmar, Los Banos, Livingston, Atwater, Merced, Chowchilla, La Grange, Sonora, Ripon, Manteca, Tracy, Stockton, Lodi, Sacramento, California to take a BLS for Healthcare Providers Class at First Lady Permanente Education Center. Classes are American Heart Association Certified, serving all of Stanislaus, Merced County and San Joaquin County.
Student Discount: Students that are enrolled in a program at First Lady Permanente will authorized to receive a discount price of $50.00 for the Initial Course or Renewal Course, plus book fee. Must include in order in comments, FLP Student Discount- Program start Date xx-xx-xx. Discount will be applied to card used on file within 3-5 business days.
Refund Policy: (Revised as of 2/1/2014) All Online E-Learning Key-codes are non-refundable, all sales are 100% final at the time of purchase. Once a key-code is emailed to a student we are unable to re-issue to another student even if the key-code was not used or activated. Standard Policy requires all students to pay full payment for any of our advanced courses at the time of scheduling a skills session, renewal or initial advanced course [If you decided to change the date or do not show to class, this amount is lost in full & non-refundable]. Our company has a NO REFUND POLICY for our courses, due to limited availability. Please do not sign up for a class at our Training Center, if you are unsure of your work circumstances or not quite sure if you need to take a safety course. A refund is only granted if you have a hospital note due to an emergency. [If you absolutely can not take a class you are signed up for you can sell your spot to another individual that you recruit to our company, once you find person on your own contact and notify us.]
Rescheduling Policy: Rescheduling a course (BLS or Heartsavaer only) will accrue a $25.00 rescheduling fee, and is mandatory to switch to next available class. This fee may be waived if you contact our office 3 business days in advance, all other last minute notices will not be granted due to late notice. The reschedule fee only applies 30-days from course date, after such date student is required to pay course in full.
Attendance/Late Arrivals: If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be required to reschedule your course and a fee of $25.00 will apply, and required in full to transfer to next available class. Please be courteousness and contact our office at (209)250-1200 to update office manager only if it is urgent you are going to arrive late.
Passing/Failing Guidelines: There are no pre-course assignments for BLS for Healthcare Providers Class. The AHA requires that you pass the course with a 84% score & complete Adults Skills Session & Infant Skill Session. There are times that students may not pass, due to lack of class participation & understanding of course material. If you are not really familiar with the course material we advise picking the BLS book up prior to class.
Continuing Education Units: The CA Board of Nursing does not give CE Units to RT's, RN's, LVN's, CNA's- CE Units are not approved. Please note the Dental Board of CA is the only provider that grants 4-CE units if you have a dental license.
